The JPL International Office provides immigration advising and support to the Lab and to international students and scholars whose immigration status is part of their JPL affiliation. Accordingly, the JPL International Office supports:
- Human Resources (JPL regular hires, TMS hires & Volunteers)
- Postdoc Office (JPL Postdoctoral Scholars & Caltech Postdocs at JPL)
- Education Office (JVSRP & other student programs)
- Office of the Chief Scientist (Distinguished Visiting Scientists & Visiting Researchers)
We prepare and file immigration paperwork on behalf of the Lab with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service and the U.S. Department of Labor. Currently, we support employment-based non-immigrant statuses (E-3, H-1B, O-1, and TN) and immigrant visas (permanent residence applications). As part of the International Offices on campus, we administer Caltech's J-1 Exchange Visitor Program and support F-1 non-degree students.
The JPL International Office ensures that the Lab complies with all U.S. immigration employment-related rules and regulations and assists international students and scholars with maintaining legal status while in the United States under JPL's sponsorship.
