Equivalence. As you may already have the necessary credits for certain classes, explore the possibility of transferring your classes earned abroad and have them validated as equivalent in the United States. There are three large and well-known companies to evaluate foreign credentials, including school transcripts, diplomas, certifications, professional licenses, etc.. Costs and processing times are likeley to vary, so you are encouraged to check each one of them on the fees and how long it takes to get an evaluation.

For example, if you intend to enroll at the Pasadena City College (PCC), which is located two blocks away from Caltech, you can ask a PCC Counselor to look at your diploma or transcripts from abroad in order to avoid repeating the courses you have already taken. Each transcript or diploma earned abroad must be translated in English and certified.
Transfers. Pasadena City College offers courses that prepare students to transfer to a four-year college or university. Students usually complete 60 transferable semester units consisting of general education and major coursework at PCC and then transfer to a university to continue toward a Bachelor's degree.
